Lokalphoto is an online photography marketplace that connects clients and photographers. It’s designed to help clients streamline the photographer identification, selection, and booking process and give photographers a dedicated place to showcase & sell their services. Photographers can create a listing on Lokalphoto, complete with package booking options and calendar availability, and clients can easily search and book photographers based on location, genre, dates, and budget.   • I’m a photographer. What’s in it for me?

We designed Lokalphoto to support photographers’ businesses with autonomy, flexibility, and affordability in mind. Lokalphoto’s marketplace enhances the visibility and scale of your business so you can gain additional clients. Photographers set their own schedule, prices, and details of their packages. Lokalphoto takes care of the business ends of bookings and client photo delivery, so you can focus on the creative stuff. Photographer accounts are free to join and maintain over time.   • I’m a client. What’s in it for me?

Instead of exploring multiple websites to find a photographer, and then making several phone calls to find out pricing and sort out schedules, come to Lokalphoto for a simplified photographer search process. Lokalphoto incorporates reviews to help you feel confident and secure in your choice of photographer. We also ensure that the photos included in your package are yours to keep - you’ll receive image files to download.

 

  • Do I need to pay for an account?

Nope! Lokalphoto accounts are free for both photographers and clients.

  • How do I edit my profile?

Once logged in to Lokalphoto, select “My Account” at the top of the page, and then select “Edit Profile.”

  • How do I delete an account?

Once logged in to Lokalphoto, select “My Account” at the top of the page, and then select “Cancel Account” at the bottom of the page.

  • How do I reach my photographer?

Prior to booking, you can reach a photographer through Lokalphoto by clicking “Send Message” on the photographer’s profile page. After booking, you’ll receive your photographer’s phone number to coordinate shoot details and other logistics.

  • How do I submit a booking request?

If you’re ready to book a photographer on Lokalphoto, you can send a request to the photographer to book a photography package. If you have any questions about the listing or its availability, or you just want to make a human connection first, you can also send a message to the photographer before you send a booking request.

To send a booking request:

  1. On a listing, click Send Booking Request.
  2. Review your booking details to make sure everything is correct.
  3. Add your payment information, including any coupon code you may have.
  4. Agree to the policies and terms.
  5. Wait for the photographer’s response. The photographer has 24 hours to reply, but most reply within a few hours.

If your request is accepted, you’ll be charged in full for the booking. If the photographer declines the request or doesn’t respond within 24 hours, no charge is made and you can try booking those dates with another photographer.

 

  • How should I prepare for my photo shoot?

Because photo styles vary, the photographer you’ve selected is your best resource to get the most out of your photo shoot. On each photographer’s profile, there’s a FAQ / Tips section written by the photographer as guidance for clients’ shoots. Read through this and message your photographer if you have any additional questions.

  • How do I coordinate photo shoot details with my photographer?

Clients and photographers work out the details for photography shoots together. Prior to your photo shoot, message your photographer to figure out where to meet, confirm contact information, make any needed stylistic decisions, and ask any other questions. Keeping communication in your message thread gives you and Lokalphoto a clear reference if any issues come up.

  • What’s the Lokalphoto cancellation policy?

All cancellations made 48 hours in advance of scheduled bookings will be fully refunded to the client.

Within 48 hours of the scheduled booking:

-  If a client cancels the booking, the client will forfeit the Client Fee and 25% of the price paid for the photography package, paid directly to the photographer to compensate her/him for the lost opportunity to book a replacement session

- If a photographer cancels the booking, the client will receive a full refund and also a credit for 25% of the price paid for the photography package, up to a maximum of $50. The photographer will receive a penalty on her/his account in this same amount.

- If a client fails to cancel the booking and does not show for scheduled photography services, the client forfeits the entire amount paid.

- Multiple cancellations may result in an automatic review and/or removal from the site.

  • What happens if I’m running late?

Everyone benefits from great communication, so please communicate that you’re running behind with a quick phone call or text message. Flexibility is often needed, but when schedules are tight, here’s the Lokalphoto policy:

Any client who is late arriving to photography services will have the photography session time reduced on a 1:1 basis for each minute late in arriving. This may also result in a reduction of the number of images delivered.

Any photographer who is late shall extend the photographer session time on a 1:1 basis for each minute late in arriving. If photography services are scheduled back-to-back, it is expected that the photographer shall notify subsequent clients about the delay.

  • Can I reschedule due to inclement weather?

Yes.  Either the photographer or client may request to reschedule the session due to weather. If it is not possible to conduct photography services due to weather, the photographer and client will reschedule for a mutually agreeable date, with no additional charge.

  • Can I reschedule due to illness?

Yes. Either the photographer or client may request to reschedule the session due to illness, as documented by a physician. If it is not possible to conduct photography services due to illness, the photographer and client will reschedule on an a mutually agreeable date, with no additional charge.

  • How are Photography Package prices determined?

Photographers establish the details of their photography packages (length of time for the photo shoot, minimum number of photos, and estimated turnaround time) and their own package prices.

  • What are Lokalphoto Client Fees?

Lokalphoto charges clients a fee upon booking confirmation. This fee is generally 5% to 15% of the price of the photography package selected, and is shown to clients on the checkout page before they make a booking.

  • What are Lokalphoto Photographer Fees?

Lokalphoto pays photographers upon completion of photography services, when images are delivered to the client. If a photographer is using Lokalphoto’s Gallery to send the image files, no confirmation is needed on the client’s behalf. If a photographer chooses to use a 3rd party gallery to deliver image files, Lokalphoto requires confirmation of receipt of the images by the client prior to paying the photographer.

Payments to photographers are typically processed within 48-hours of a payment request. To send a payment request, visit your payments page and initiate a payment request.

  • How do Lokalphoto reviews work?

Lokalphoto reviews help clients narrow their choices and help photographers continually improve their services. All the reviews on Lokalphoto are written by users within our community, so any review you see is based on photography services that a client had with a specific photographer.

Clients will receive an email notification requesting that they submit a review after photography services are completed. Clients may also leave a review for a completed booking by visiting the photographer’s profile page - a button to leave a review will be present if you are eligible to submit a review.

  • What if I don’t like my photos?

Just as in other art forms, photography is subject to personal preferences. If you are unhappy with your photos, talk with your photographer first. Perhaps there are other photos from the shoot you might prefer. Any amends, including the transfer of additional images, or a shoot redo, are solely up to the discretion of the photographer. Contact us if you need additional support.

  • What if I didn’t receive the number of images stated in my package?

The photography packages state the minimum number of images to be delivered; if you did not receive the minimum quantity, and this was not due to client lateness, or a mutually agreeable circumstance (for example, more people, more locations or more outfit changes), please contact your photographer as well as Lokalphoto to determine a resolution.

  • What if my photos are taking longer than the stated turnaround time?

The expected turnaround time listed in the package is approximate. We encourage photographers to be thorough and frequent communicators with clients to keep expectations aligned. Reach out to your photographer about your photos if you haven’t yet heard from her/him about your gallery delivery, and if you’re still having a problem, contact us to help. We’ll help sort out what’s going on with your photos and ensure that the expected turnaround time is accurately shown in the photographer’s listing.
